Learn more about our AFT back-to-school grant
In an effort to improve opportunities and outcomes for students, the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) launched its Real Solutions for Kids and Communities campaign. As a part of this campaign, AFT has offered $10,000 back-to-school grants for schools and community organizations across the U.S. Due to a high percentage of at-risk students and only an 80% graduation rate in Caddo Parish Schools, leaders at Red River United recognized a need to provide students with valuable skills that can be translated into trade careers.
Now, we're excited to announce that we've applied for and received an AFT back-to-school grant to engage students, staff and the community with local trade unions. Through this partnership, we're hosting events at local high schools on a rotational basis. During these events, we'll introduce students and families to local trades in:
Facilities
Sales
Food service
Plumbing
Railroads
Automobiles
